The municipality covers an area of 985 hectares, including 345 hectares of forest. Herzogenbuchsee lies at an altitude of 465 meters above sea level on the railway line that connects it to Bern-Olten-Basel-Zurich.
Traffic
The old Bern-Zurich road runs through the village. Since the construction of the A1 motorway eight kilometers northwest (exit in Wangen a. A.), this road has lost importance as a long-distance connection.
