Architectural concept:

Located between the wooded hillside and the banks of the Ancienne Papeterie eco-district, the Prairie 4 buildings are nestled in a lush, high-quality landscape. The complex is composed of four buildings, representing a total of 120 apartments, connected by a shared base housing an underground car park. This zero-carbon project includes apartments ranging from one to 5.5 rooms, benefiting from several orientations or openings onto green spaces. The ground floors benefit from a private outdoor extension. A communal space is also provided between the buildings. The outdoor facilities on the base are designed for residents, with high-quality outdoor spaces for each apartment, a communal space for meetings and conducive to conviviality. Typological concept:

Landscape concept:

The landscaping of the Prairie district is organized around a cultivated north-south axis that connects the wooded hillside to the banks of the Gérine. This cultivated axis is structured around a network of gentle circulations with permeable soil, vegetable gardens planted with isolated landmark trees and fruit trees of old varieties, and a large area of flower meadow. This urban area offers spaces that can be appropriated by residents and can accommodate spontaneous activities. The plantations are composed of clumps of native species and ornamental plants, punctuated by coppices and a few major standard trees.

Situation
Marly is a Swiss town and commune in the canton of Fribourg, located in the Sarine district.

Marly is located 4 km (as the crow flies) south of the city of Fribourg and at an altitude of 627 m. The commune extends along the Gérine valley to its mouth in the Sarine, as well as on the adjacent molasses of the Fribourg plateau. The territory of Marly extends over 7.7 km.

Bus line 8 connects the eco-district to Fribourg and continues as far as Corminboeuf. The service runs every 15 minutes.

The central part of the territory is occupied by the Gérine valley, up to 800 m wide, which flows from east to west. The course of the river is engaged in a channel which protects the bottom of the valley, which was formerly often flooded. Downstream, the Gérine flows through a narrow neck formed by the plateau of La Grangette and Marly-le-Petit before emptying into the Sarine.

To the south of the Gérine valley, the territory of the commune extends towards the bordering forested heights: Bois de l'Église, Vers le Bois (with an altitude of 730 m, the highest point in Marly) and Bois de Monteynan (704 m altitude). These woods are crossed by small streams such as the Ruisseau de Copy. To the north, a high plateau about 1 km wide joins the bottom of the Gérine valley. This plateau falls through multiple meanders of the Sarine river through the molasse strata. The slope gradient reaches 100 m in some places and is crisscrossed by sandstone rocks. The western and northern border of the commune runs along the Sarine.
